All of this is looking up. It will be nice to have a drama free year. Also good to hear Shinkaruk is shaking off that rust

That is Canucks biggest asset over the summer . Drama free of Kesler Lu Gillis and Torts. It is hard to believe the Canucks won't improve just alone on that fact.

I think the Canucks in the future will have better season starts. I was talking about that yesterday. I think it had more to do with AV and his reluctance to put NHL lines together til the end of preseason. This season maybe will be the exception... or not.

Again Carol kudos to you. You kept us entertained when there was absolutely nothing going on. The last few days where there is actually hockey stuff to talk about , it is easy to see why people hold you in high esteem. Thanks again for the summer from all of us.

Hopefully this works in their favor, allowing them to get familiar with each other BEFORE game one!!

Just watched the scrimmage. Most NHL regulars didn't participate

Curtis Valk was really impressive with 2 goals.
Shinkaruk was also impressive with a goal and an assist.
Staton was injured by darren archibald looks to be his shoulder
Gaunce was invisible

Cassels GWG

Gaunce needs a kick in the nuts to wake him up. If he doesn't play every shift at 200% he will be a career AHLer

Yeah Cassel's wasn't bad considering his endurance was probably garbage and he is missing 15 pounds.

Seeing Gaunce not use his size is sooooo frustrating. Plus he had 2 open nets on great passes and he didn't one time it, so the goalie could adjust.

Got to sit with the scouts and the canucks brass, and many seemed pretty impressed with Shinkaruk.

He is really good in the neutral zone at fending off checks, and his hockey vision is really evident, as he slows the game down.

I think he may have taken those trade rumors personally, I am excited about him this year. So much energy.

I still expect him to start in the AHL, but that would be fine. Let him play a tonne and get used to playing against the big boys. Set him up for success there. He'll get plenty of opportunity to be called up if he shows he deserves it.

I wonder how many points the lack of drama is worth. There really should be an advanced stat for that.

Corsi/Tortwick stats:
John Tortarella in an 82 game seaason, was storming other locker rooms at a whopping 3% of the time, and was suspended for 13% of the time. Of the remaining 87%, two percent of that was spent humiliating Edler, and another 4% was spent throwing video review tapes into the wastebasket, and ducking calls from Utica. The numbers don't lie folks.

Was there a statistic recorded for time spent with his head lodged in his sphincter?
